Temple
About

A deep-mountain training temple in the Shikoku ranges. After the steep “Henro Korogashi” route from Fujii-dera, you reach a path lined with stone statues of the Thirteen Buddhas and massive cedar trees designated a prefectural natural monument. The main hall enshrines Kokūzō Bosatsu (Ākāśagarbha), revered for wisdom and success in studies. In profound quiet, it feels like a place to rebuild body and mind.

Johannes comment

First major Henro Korogashi: tough climb and long day—plan seriously. Water springs are safe, but food is scarce: buy supplies 1–3 km before T11, none at T12, and next reliable shops are around T16. Halfway emergency shelter hut with spring (camping possible); inner sanctuary is a steep ~1-hour round trip with great views.

Who is Johannes?

I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.
