No.85 Gokenzan Kanjizaiin Yakuriji
Halfway up Mt. Goken, linked to a legend of five sacred swords placed on its peaks by Kūkai. The gate is a rare Two-Deva Gate, guarded by Jikokuten and Tamonten. The principal image is Shō Kannon, and the grounds also honor Kangiten and tengu traditions, reflecting diverse devotional practices.
I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.

Steep approach; unique cable-car train ride is a great option but enters the temple from the back—make sure to visit the main gate area to see the seated ‘O-mukae Daishi’ statue. Main hall near Nokyōchō; Daishidō slightly separate. Okuno-in is on a loop path behind the main hall. Very steep paved descent (up to ~20%). Nearby: Shikoku Village open-air museum; famous udon + a noted ryokan.
