Temple
About

At about 450 meters above sea level, this temple is reached by stone steps leading to a bell-hung gate, where pilgrims traditionally ring the bell before entering. The Eleven-Faced Kannon, designated an Ehime Prefectural Cultural Property, is worshipped for protection and safe childbirth. A triangular pond on the grounds is linked to the temple’s name and legend.

Johannes comment

Atmospheric mountain temple (~400 m) with large Kōbō Daishi statue and rest hut. Pass Bekkaku 12 on the way (recommended). Major detour to Bekkaku 13 (Temple 65 okuno-in): cliffside temple, remote waterfalls, demanding route but unforgettable.

Who is Johannes?

I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.
