No.13 Ōkurizan Kazōin Dainichiji

Temple
About

In the residential area of Ichinomiya, Tokushima City, facing Ichinomiya Shrine across the road—an unusually distinctive setting. The main hall enshrines Jūichimen Kannon (Eleven-Faced Kannon) and preserves traces of Japan’s religious history from syncretism to separation. The open gate and the “Shiawase Kannon” (“Happiness Kannon”) are popular highlights. A place where faith and history feel close at hand.

Johannes comment

Long stretch from T12 with limited food/accommodation; the former conbini near here is closed (paid camping nearby across the river). Temple is small, but the shrine directly across the road highlights Shinto–Buddhist connection; behind it is the Ichinomiya Castle loop walk. Logistics option: detour down from T12 to Kamiyama valley for supplies, onsen, and lodging; possible detour to Bekkaku Temple #2.

Who is Johannes?

I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.
