The First Temple, Ryozenji, was wrapped in a clear blue sky.On that morning, DON
Weiss's "Last Walk" quietly began.
With his staff in hand, he moved forward slowly, one step at a time.Without rushing,
his way of walking---carefully placing each step---left a strong impression.
There was another scene that symbolized this pilgrimage.
DON carried a small microphone and camera himself, recording his journey from his own
perspective.Rather than being filmed by someone else, he sees, feels, and preserves
each moment as it is.
In this pilgrimage, there is also a change in how he travels. DON is not only walking,
but also using buses, trains, and cars.As a result, he spends more time at each
temple, carefully deepening moments of prayer, conversation, and documentation.
At the First Temple, the head priest shared these words:
"As you continue the pilgrimage, there are moments when many realizations gently come
to you."
Walking, praying, encountering others. Through the accumulation of these experiences,
something gradually begins to change.
DON's pilgrimage quietly captures this flow of time.
This journey is being recorded by DON himself, and through OHENRO.ONLINE, it will be
shared with the world in eight languages.
The first day. And yet, while it marks a beginning, it is also a first step of a
journey that looks toward an ending, and connects to those who will follow.
Together with DON's friend Mr. Masuda and members of this project, we saw DON off at
his departure.
