Temple
About

An open, village-side temple in the fields of Tosa City (Kōchi). There is no gate; the modern main hall enshrines an Important Cultural Property Yakushi Nyorai, contrasted by a heavy, storm-surviving Daishi Hall. In the Kannon Hall, bottomless ladles are dedicated as safe-childbirth prayers. A quiet countryside site where a long history of devotion still breathes.

Johannes comment

Famous for childbirth and safe-delivery prayers; tradition says Kūkai sowed sacred seeds here. Tsuyadō has a rare dedicated shower, with priority for female pilgrims (men may stay after ~5 pm if no women arrive). Bell tower is easy to miss—right side before entry near toilets, up short steps; ring once before entering.

Who is Johannes?

I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.
