No.27 Chikurinzan Jizōin Konomineji
One of the toughest stops: a temple around 450 m elevation on Mt. Kōnomine, called “Henro Korogashi” and even the “Tosa checkpoint.” The irimoya gate leads to about 150 stone steps up to the main hall. The approach is colored by seasonal flowers and trees, making the entire mountain feel like a garden. Beyond the difficulty lies deep quiet and a strong sense of accomplishment.
I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.

Steep standout mountain temple with crafted gardens. Best as a loop: ascend via the Shikoku Nature Trail and descend the official route. Great tsuyadō (women given preference) and a very accessible healing spring where you can refill bottles. Visit nearby Kōnomine Jinja (sometimes treated as Okuno-in) and optionally continue to the ‘Sky and Sea’ lookout park with views toward Kōchi City.
