No.9 Shōkakuzan Bodaiin Horinji
Temple No. 9, Hōrin-ji, stands in the fields of Awa, Tokushima and is affectionately called “Tanaka no Hōrin-ji.” A graceful two-story gate and gentle countryside scenery soothe the spirit. The main hall enshrines a reclining Buddha said to be carved by Kōbō Daishi, and the temple is especially known for blessings for strong legs and healthy mobility—perfect for easing travel fatigue.
I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.

Small modern temple with good covered seating near the stamp office. Do not miss the tiny traditional restaurant opposite the parking lot, famous for its pilgrim item displays and simple sweet potatoes – it feels like a Camino albergue.
