Temple
About

Set in a quiet residential area, this is the only temple in the pilgrimage dedicated to Bishamonten, deity of prosperity and good fortune. At the “Jōju Stone,” pilgrims test their wishes by passing a staff through a hole with eyes closed. A hidden cultural artifact shows a Marian image revered as Kannon, revealing a unique interweaving of faith traditions.

Johannes comment

Reconstructed after fires; energetically understated and beside a busy road. Main deity Bishamonten (rare among 88). Okuno-in ~200 m south offers cozier atmosphere. Guest House Himi nearby; large supermarkets between 62 and 63 for resupply.

Who is Johannes?

I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.
