Temple
About

A Zen temple on the plain of Kōchi City, about 5 km from Katsurahama. There is no traditional gate; stone pillars quietly mark the entrance. A white-walled main hall stands beside a Daishi Hall, and offerings of eyeglass plaques—given in gratitude for healing—are especially striking. Memorial towers for past abbots remain, offering a calm encounter with Tosa history and Zen culture.

Johannes comment

Simple/quiet temple in a long run of tsuyadō temples; staff are very friendly. Okuno-in is ~2.5 km away (often too much of a detour). Good overnight stage with multiple nearby lodgings, including a women-only guesthouse, plus an on-site tsuyadō.

Who is Johannes?

I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.
