No.2 Nisshōzan Muryōjuin Gokurakuji
A key early temple in Naruto, Tokushima. A vermilion Niō Gate greets pilgrims; the main hall preserves a principal image said to be carved by Kōbō Daishi, along with legends tied to “light.” The grounds include a 1,200-year-old cedar, and a Buddha-footprint stone. Known for blessings for safe childbirth, health, and longevity—an excellent place to start the journey.
I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.

Large garden with old trees and Buddha footprints for making wishes. The shop sells especially nice alternative 88‑temple car magnets. Main hall and Daishidō are uphill; use the small loop path behind the Daishidō to avoid the steep stairs on the way back.
