No.19 Kyōchizan Maniin Tatsueji
A solemn temple in Komatsushima City. Beyond a simple, powerful gate, the main hall’s ceiling is filled with 286 coffered paintings that surround visitors in color. The precincts include the Kurokami-dō, tied to a deep story of repentance, and nearby Shirasagi Bridge preserves legends of Gyōki and the temple’s founding. A turning point where pilgrims face the past and look inward.
I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.

Impressive, grand-feeling temple and an easy walk from T18. Famous sweet shop right opposite the gate plus a small local fruit/grocery store for fresh snacks. Good base for Okuno-in exploring (3 sites from ~500 m to ~9 km); good henro house options after the temple (e.g., Fun Farm).
