No.25 Hōshuzan Shingonin Shinshoji
A port-town temple on a hill above Murotsu Harbor. Midway up 125 steep steps stands a brightly colored gate called the “Buddha’s Lighthouse.” The principal image is “Kadori Jizō,” linked to a legend of guiding ships through stormy seas. Revered for maritime safety and good catches, the summit rewards you with refreshing harbor views.
I like to travel, and whenever I have time, I walk all over the place. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Shikoku Pilgrimage and enjoys talking about the temples and the journey. I like talking to people and value encounters.

Quirky port temple with a distinctive very steep approach through the gate. Small local supermarket ~50 m before the temple; explore the harbor area for local history. Toilets are inside the building and not obvious.
